Biography
LYDIA The Impulsive Mage Clan Role: Fugitive Mate: Apollos Pronouns: she/her Bio: Have you ever made a terrible no good very bad decision that changed the course of your life forever in just one evening? Lydia did. Desperate to raise her social standing after her mate-to-be and would-be heir to a profitable silk trading company vanished into the night, she pulled every string she could until she was invited to the Sunrise Gala, a prestigious, multi-clan event held every year in a giant restored ballroom in the Hewn City. Dragons would mingle, dance, and party from dusk until dawn, with a special toast to end the night. Lights would shine brightly from every surface of the party area to keep away the things that awakened in the city after dark. It was said that couples who attended together had the blessing of the Lightweaver on their union. But there was one problem. Lydia couldn't find another dragon to go with. None of the eligible bachelors would take a chance on her. So Lydia decided to take matters into her own claws. She was a mage (a fact she hadn't exactly gone around sharing) so why not use that power to make a date? It was harder than it seemed, but just as Lydia was considering going and asking the Lightweaver for help, inspiration struck. The statues that stood outside of the Lightweaver's great temple. There were rumors that they came to life, sometimes, in times of great need. Surely, Lydia reasoned, this counted. So, she chose one of the statues (a stately-looking pearlcatcher who should make delicious eyecandy) and woke him up with a little spell. At first things went well. Lydia and her companion danced and partied with all the others, and if Apollos was just a little bit overawed and confused, she could blame it on too much drink and it being his first Sunrise Gala. But at the end of the night, when she tried to undo the spell and turn Apollos back into a statue again, two things went wrong. First, Apollos wasn't going nicely and neatly back into a statue. He kept moving his head or fluttering his great stone wings. But the second and even worse problem was that Lydia was caught in the act by her half brother, who immediately raced to tell everyone else. Lydia had no choice. She had to run. Apollos came with her, somewhat to her surprise, and together the two found a group of mages and other misfits who might be able to help them with what they both wanted. What they both needed, on the other hand? That would be a little trickier. |
