______ Kala is a scholar at heart; you’d sooner find her with her nose buried in books than out in the coliseum fighting. She’s also an aspiring alchemist, experimenting with her concoctions in a cave outside the lair (after the first few explosions, it was strongly suggested that she find a place to work that wouldn’t cause any more collateral damage). That’s not to say the other dragons hate her for it, they were just really sick of putting their dens back in order for the tenth time. Likon in particular was frustrated, as his den was a network of tunnels in the earth prone to collapsing with each explosion - which says a lot more about the explosions than it does Likon’s expertise in tunneling. They’ve since made up though, with Kala providing a mixture that, when coated on the tunnel walls, drastically increased their structural stability.

______ As for how she came to be in a clan an entire region away from her birth, well. Noggle and Ashamane found her bobbing in the waves just off the shore of where the Tangled Wood meets the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She'd been stabbed and slashed repeatedly, and was leaving a trail of red in the waves. Panicking, Noggle fished her out and the pair rushed her to the nearest healer. It was a bit touch and go, but Kala recovered. Unfortunately, she'd lost her memory in the trauma, and the only reason why she even knew her name was because her coat had 'if lost, please return to Kala' written on the tag. As she had nowhere to go, Ashamane and Noggle brought her back with them to the Everdark Jungle, where Kala has lived ever since.

(Her father lost his mate and all of his children...and even though Kala survived, without her memory she would only see a stranger if they passed each other by.)

______ The Spiral met Spectre when the butter caiman was accidentally caught up in a steam explosion from her cauldron, and she’s been nursing him back to health ever since. Whether the butter caiman leaves Kala for the wild or stays with her forever once he’s recovered is entirely up to him, though until that day comes, Kala is just glad for this precious time with her friend.
