Jadzia thinks themself content in the shallow waters of the Behemoth's pools for a very, very long time. They closely monitor the tree's acidity and chemistry, proud of their expertise. And their service would have continued on forever, had it not been for wayfaring hatchlings' strange additions to the Loop.

They're annoyed about it, at first, especially as their mate is taken with it. Celestine echoes the sky to them, in colors that Jadzia has never seen. They begin to grow curious. And as Celestine's longing for foreign skies gets stronger, so too does Jadzia's intrigue. What must the ponds look like, under those skies? How would those lights catch against the waves, or against Celestine's eyes?

It's not until they meet the ocean that they realize how very small their world used to be.
