sir

sir is the main healer of the clan.

when he saw precious, he was at first a little scared of her. he isn't sure she remembers this now, but the first thing he ever saw her do with those claws and teeth was save her familiar, vicious. sir knew dragons who couldn't care less for their familiars. it was this action that had him lose all fear of her. it was her uncertain kindness and the way she chose time and time again to stay with him that had him falling in love.

the day their sons hatched was the happiest day of his life (the second happiest was when acid and poison married and third when Named and moon declared their intention to stay with the clan). sir has never been particularly insecure, but precious is precious. he can't change her nature. even with the two little ones, she still disappeared for days at a time, relishing in the time spent alone. but she loved them, possibly even more than she loves him now.

arcade had always taken after his mother. she took him with her, once, out into the world. sir still doesn't know what they did, but afterwards arcade was hard pressed to stay in the lair. skylight never seemed to understand, but sir did.

it was sir that arcade when to when he decided to leave. who else would he tell? who else would understand? arcade would be the first to be exalted and sir knew the thrill of being alone and separate in such a way called to his son. alone in the dark of the lair, sir gave arcade his blessing. that night he gave his son one last hug and a kiss to his forehead, before watching arcade walk out one last time. it wasn't long after that when skylight approached him as well, planning to take his closest friends and follow after his older brother. sir gave them his blessing as well.

he didn't like it, of course he didn't. their decisions affected not only their own family but the whole clan. but if nothing else, he understands.

arcade and precious are the same, after all, and one day she'll leave as well.
