Hadrian had always wanted to be a scholar. Sort of. He had been born into a clan of scholars. His parents had been scholars, his siblings were going to become scholars, it seemed only natural that he would become a scholar himself. However, no matter how long he poured over his clan's scrolls, nothing seemed to speak to him. When he was grown, he, along with a few of his siblings, set out for the Sunbeam Ruins, eager to see what waited in store for them there. However, as his siblings fell in love with the ancient ruins, he again felt nothing. To make things worse, where ever he tried to settle, trouble seemed to find him. A few days spent in the Hewn City led to him almost being robbed (twice) by thieves and bounty hunters, scouring the city for precious artifacts. A few weeks in the Emperor's Wake not only nearly got him robbed (again), but also sent accidentally sent him straight into the path of said emperor. Thus he decided to leave the Sunbeam Ruins while he was still barely in one piece, vowing never to return. It was at the Arcanist's observatory where he finally found his passion: the stars. It seemed is though each of those glowing, lonely orbs finally resonated with him, allowing him to no longer feel like an outcast as he did in his original clan. If only all the other scholars there didn't view him as just a klutz and a weirdo, all except for Capella, who shared his passion for the stars. They would stay up late into the early hours of the morning, geeking out over constellations and distant galaxies. It was no wonder that when she wanted to leave the observatory and found her own that he happily agreed to join her. And so, they left the observatory for the rest of Sorienth, eventually settling upon the Isle of Lovers, building a small observatory of their own. |
