Once again the full moon rose and with it, the great beast Asmodeus pulled himself from the depths of a murky bog. It was here, submerged in a nest of peat moss and detritus that the twins had rested. As they grew, they were surrounded by the end of life for many other creatures. The moss that curled around them formed a thick layer and other beings sunk into it, their forms disappearing into the depths of the bog. So close to the fading of life, the twins found themselves delving between the realms of the living and the dead. As they grew, their forms accumulated pieces of those creatures that had sunken past them - decaying limbs and twisted heads and tails. It is said that they lurk in bogs, luring dreamers out onto the moors just as their predecessors had. Those whose minds are affected dream of dark water running down the walls and pooling up from the floor. Some of them go missing in the night and others are found waterlogged, their lungs filled with water as if they had drowned in their sleep. Those who awaken speak of horrible eldritch things. In rumors, they are called hell hounds for perhaps they are sent from the underworld to collect the debts of those already promised to death’s grasp.
