I feel the spirits morphing within... busting against my rib cage, shrieking in my dreams, bruising my skin from the inside as they try to escape. Enraged, they seek to kill me and my mate, which is why I can never release them. I hadn't wanted to trap them there. I didn't want to bring this torment upon myself nor the spirits. But I had to protect myself and my mate against them. Let me start from the beginning. Hidden desperately held off the attacking dragons. Her Wind magic was failing her. She buffeted the enemies, but I could tell she was getting weaker. Adding my Shadow magic to the mix, I tried my best to defend her. But we weren't going to win against all of them. Small skirmishes like these, when well-placed, could be deadly. As a last resort, I summoned up the deepest, darkest parts of my power and enveloped the dragons, screaming with rage and fear as I pulled their spirits inside me. All around, lifeless carcasses fell to the ground. Hidden was safe. I buckled under the weight of the tens of souls which had suddenly been sucked into my own essence. I suppose that's not really the beginning, is it? What is this magic? How did I suck them into me? [The narrator's voice becomes unfocused, desperate and frail] How do I get them out of me? [The narrator's voice returns to normal] It's called Spirit magic. It comes from a heritage merely hinted at by the gods, a group of dragons that are conspired about by only the most knowledgeable members of the Sornieth. Their numbers are small, and their domain involves and controls the spirit and the afterlife. We are barely known, shunned by the gods, because we are far too dangerous. Ripping souls out of their bodies was too far for the gods. [The narrator speaks ominously and dramatically] We are coming for your souls. Just kidding. |

Spirit Heritage
A Subspecies
There used to be many dragons with abilities to control spirits, ghosts, ghouls, and other unearthly entities from other planes of existence. These dragons banded together and called themselves the Spirit Heritage, as the powers only seemed to exist in certain bloodlines. Dragons with these powers lived in the shadows and were not well-known by modern dragons; they hid their identity and allegiance from those without Spirit power. Now, their numbers are dwindling, and they exist far and few between. Because the power travels through bloodline, Howl and Hidden, two of these Spirit Heritage entities, intend to keep the heritage alive.

Howl was not born into the Spirit Heritage's organization but rather adopted when its members discovered his powers. He was raised to hone his ability to command spirits-- even ones that still inhabit living bodies. I feel the spirits morphing within... busting against my rib cage, shrieking in my dreams, bruising my skin from the inside as they try to escape. Enraged, they seek to kill me and my mate, which is why I can never release them. I hadn't wanted to trap them there. I didn't want to bring this torment upon myself or the spirits. But I had to protect myself and my mate against them. That led me to take extreme measures. |

Unlike Howl, who controls souls, Hidden simply speaks to the dead. Her hobby is travelling to ruins and speaking with the inhabiting ghosts. Through these spirits, she can determine the unknown histories of ancient civilizations. She can't influence these spirits and they can't affect her. Her relations are peaceful. She does her best to treat frenzied spirits kindly, hoping to calm them instead of driving them into further negativity and chaos. She's also rather skilled at therapy and is a friend who'll offer a sympathetic ear to anyone in the clan. |

Must be related to an eligible Spirit Heritage member. If you'd like to register a dragon as an eligible Spirit Heritage member, it has to have written, unique, ghost-related lore and the Stained gene. Ask and as long as it fits these requirements you shall most probably receive.
