In life, Teach was the most fearsome pirate known to dragonkind, equal parts cunning strategist and brutal survivor. Known as Blackbeard for his long braided mane and beard, the gigantic rogue Imperial terrorized the seas of Sornieth for over a century - until his luck finally ran out, and he was killed during a skirmish with law officers in the Lightweaver's territory.

The dragons of Teach's crew were captured, tried, and hanged for their crimes; meanwhile, their captain's body was securely buried in accordance with Imperial custom, while his severed head was displayed as a warning to other pirates. However, all remnants of his body disappeared a few years after his death, and have never been found since. Rumor has it that he was resurrected by dark magic, and it is claimed by sailors that he continues to haunt the seas around Sornieth to this day, aboard a massive ghost ship crewed by the undead, as a leviathan Emperor they call the Marauder...
