Although the founders of the Moondancer Clan are Ayax and Layca, the leaders are Vauvenal and Ange. All of them are brave warriors and protective of the clan while being connected by an impenetrable bond. Still, they all have their own history.

Ange had always been strong at heart, mind and body, a prime example of a strong Guardian dragon. But without a Charge, their life had been empty for quite a long time. They hadn't even bothered to actively search for one, believing that the right moment would come to them when the time for that had come. During their travels, they'd met very few dragons who had maybe been their Charge - but none of them had felt right, there had always been something off about them. Eventually though, while wandering along the border between the Windswept Plateau and the Sea of a Thousand Currents, something inside Ange had stirred. A voice, a heartbeat, someone who had needed protection from this world. They had taken off, had been searching the land from above, trying to follow the call they'd heard until they discovered the small, unobtrusive cave from which one could see the plateau and the huge body of water a few miles away, shimmering in the distance. Gently and as silently as possible for their size, they'd landed in the near environment of the cave, not getting too close, not wanting to frighten the creature that had called out for their protection.

It had taken patience and time until the young Pearlcatcher - who had obviously noticed Ange the very moment they'd entered his territory had approached him, fearless and trusting, almost naive. "... you've been here for a while," he'd said and, with a smile, Ange had answered with a simple "You too." Somehow, this simple, first contact had been the moment that had broken both their uncertainty and they'd started to spend time together. Ange had always protected him, the young dragon they'd recognized as their Charge, and had always been there whenever Vauvenal's past haunted him.

And one fateful night, when they'd been lying tightly next to each other, Ange's big, leathery wing around Vauvenal's shoulders, he'd whispered a single sentence. "I love you." Ange had raised their head, looking down on the young dragon who had avoided their gaze. Then they'd smiled and had answered: "It's a good thing you said it. That means I don't have to."

The night had been silent from then on, both of them enjoying that a stranger had turned into a companion, a friend, a mate.
