BlackIce

• Like the natural phenomenon that they take their name from, BlackIce’s scales and limbs are dark and nearly transparent, and it can be difficult to glimpse them in dim lighting. Their wings are translucent and patterned with fractals. They catch the sun on them like light prisms, and orbs of light hover around his shoulders. Hatchlings love it when BlackIce takes flight and and light refracts through their wings and body like sun catchers to make shifting rainbows on the ground.

• BlackIce is disappointed that even though they are on ice dragon, they can’t float on the surface of the water like actual ice does. Whenever they try, they’re just heavy enough they sink under the water instead. This disappointing reality is balanced, however by the fact that this means they can swim underwater and explore. Also, it’s really peaceful to float under the water in winter and look upwards at the world above through layers of semi-transparent ice.

• BlackIce carries around an old ice tome with spells that they have taught themselves how to use. They frequently add their own notes, trivia, stories, and spell ideas in the corners of the pages. Once or twice they have created a wholly new spell and have added it to the waiting blank pages at the end of the tome.

• BlackIce likes to stargaze late at night, when the stars appear the brightest in the sky, but they do so in a manner opposite of most dragons. Instead of staring directly up at the sky overhead, they will locate a reflective surface of water and stares at the constellations reflected in it. They will also return to their favorite stargazing ponds again and again. They have also been known to use some of the spells in their ice tome to create a patch of ice to sit on as they stargaze.

• Related to the above, BlackIce likes to craft new constellations and think of what stories may go along with them. Some of the tiny stars and moons that float around them are ones they conjured up from some of their favorite star patterns with different spells from their magic tome.
