He gleams with cold and silver light, like the distant stars, like the inside of a glacier. He is solitary and distant, less concerned with the company of others than he is with the pursuit and preservation of his interests. At night, he paces the icy tunnels, casting flickering lights against the darkness, murmuring to himself of the movements of the heavens, of the turning of the seasons, of the preserving power of ice. His room is filled with strange crystals, within which gleam light that is reflected from no source in the room. Some of them are covered in frost, cold to the touch, although the room is warm.

His beauty is unearthly, untouchable, although many have tried. He is like a statue of silver and alabaster, like crystal and ice carved by the hand of the finest sculptor, and within his eyes there is something no one has ever touched before. His suitors may bring him flowers and poetry, but he disregards them, with no time for blooms that fade and words that hold no wisdom. Others have tried with magical oddities, rare tomes, star charts and learned conversation, but won only his friendship, never his heart. Some of his bitter, spurned admirers whisper that he has no heart to give, that it is only ice, through and through. But those who are his friends say that his love is already given, to the starlight he holds cupped within his hands, that he carries within himself, and made peace with it.
