Vivien had a tough childhood from the start. His parents, Novaberry and Malice, fought constantly over their children because of the exalted ones they had. In the clan lore, exalted dragons write letters to their parents or offspring about their journey serving under the gods. Novaberry would usually hide the letters from Malice whilst he was left to mourn over not hearing from his children. Since Vivien was his last hope, he tries to seperate him from his mother. It does not work.

Artemis strictly pledged loyalty to the Stormcatcher and attended the church sessions in the cathedral of the Lightning Flight. Vivien was usually forced to go and it was a ride of chaos. He was constantly thrown religion in his face and he was deeply afraid of being killed by Stormcatcher due to not pledging eternal loyalty and dominance. This resulted in Religious Trauma.

He found happiness in flowers, with is noticible because of the flowers in his horns. He was usually seen as weird and pathetic by the other adults, so he didn't have a battle training. Vivien didn't even like combat, so he spent his time noting different flowers. He then became a flowerkeeper and gardener and gives flowers to the newborns in the nursery.
