Originally from the Aergate within the Windswept Plateau, Squall earned a reputation early in life for her tendency to get into brawls with other dragons, regardless of size or age, as well as her the constant disrespect she showed her elders. She would eventually disgrace herself in the eyes of her clan when an argument led to severe injury to another dragon, and she would be pushed to the edges of the territory under constant surveillance. Angered- especially when she was not the first to attack- Squall snuck back into the heart of the clan territory, stealing her clan leader's mantle, an item passed down through the generations, and fled the clan for good, ready to live the life of a loner.

Taking advantage of her speed and shocking strength, Squall built up a life as a warrior, making money in arenas, as well as a brief stint as a bounty hunter. It was this career that brought her to Clan Rafflesia, chasing down a Bogsneak that owed her client a great deal of money. The anonymous nature of the clan, the ability to create a home with no questions about her past, appealed greatly to her, and she quickly established a base of operations there, somewhere to keep her possessions while she traveled. And though she was often out on her own adventures, she quickly became a respected member of the clan. Its members were used to fights or rough and unpredictable dragons, and many were willing to take on the consequences if she got temperamental with them. More importantly, they often appreciated having somebody else willing to do dirty work for them. And so, she became Gladiolus of Clan Rafflesia.

Gladiolus is know in her clan for her fiery, stubborn nature, quick to start fights over perceived insults and holding onto rivalries like her life depends on it. She never backs down from challenges, and she enjoys testing herself against the strongest of opponents. Despite her many, many flaws, she shows a soft side for the weaker members of the clan, often assisting them with physical tasks and displaying a weakness she would not reveal to anybody else.

Jaborosa and Gladiolus share a vicious rivalry, and have from the moment they met- Gladiolus has total irreverence for the past, whereas Jaborosa's favorite thing is history, and the artifacts that share it. The two bicker quite often, and happen upon each other quite often on their travels, which usually results in them racing for the same prize. Despite this, the barbs in her sharp words often conceal more lighthearted teasing and even rare compliments; for all their bickering, Gladiolus cannot help but feel somewhat fond of him.

Orchid is a perpetual annoyance for Gladiolus- before it had a permanent home, it would stay at Orchid's inn, where the notoriously greedy innkeeper would try to drain it dry of every coin in its pocket. And unlike her rivalry with Jaborosa, there is very little respect to be found here, with the two constantly at each other's throats when they cross paths. Perhaps more infuriating to Gladiolus is that it thinks more about Orchid than Orchid thinks about it. It is very aware that she is barely a blip on Orchid's radar, and the only thing Gladiolus hates more that being condescended to is being ignored.

Daylily is everything that annoys Gladiolus- clumsy, awkward, talkative, hyperactive. And yet the two have found themselves bonded like few others in the clan. It finds herself utterly endeared by his clumsiness, and checking up on him is on the top of its list of priorities whenever it arrives home to make sure he hasn't gotten himself in trouble. Likewise, anybody who picks on him answers to it, and few are willing to take on the challenge of a truly furious Gladiolus. It allows Daylily to bounce his ideas off of it, and provides the social interaction that wild animals can't.
