Biography

Baroness Iona
Wife of Baron Aten
tumblr_nxrb94r3fH1rkbcjno1_250.png
Iona is a creature of elegance, and she has taken great lengths to show it in her outward appearance. Despite her title being less grand than other nobles, Iola presents herself as if she was a duchess, draping her form in fine jewelry and fabric. Even her personality has been carefully modified, all so that she can properly express the grace and mannerisms of a highborn lady. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed— outsiders often mistake Iona for a marchioness, sometimes even a duchess.

Surprisingly, it's not entirely an act, although Iona does play it up for effect— not only to hopefully raise her influence amongst the nobility, but to hide her own inferiority. While Iona is indeed gifted with powerful magic, she is not particularly good at wielding it, even going as far as to abandon private lessons due to her embarrassment. Thankfully, she has managed to keep her incompetency hidden, with the exception of her husband, Baron Aten. He is the only one that she feels truly comfortable with, despite her initially treating him like a curious plaything when they first met.

Iona had met Aten at a royal ball, where Aten has been entertaining a small crowd of scholars. Initially, she was unimpressed with the tiny fae and his research, but his enthusiasm was infectious. She soon found herself enthralled, and it wasn't long until Aten realized that a new pair of eyes were watching him.

After their initial encounter, Iona found herself joining Aten at the astronomy tower, where he would happily speak to her of his theories and observations. It wasn't long until the studious, well-spoken scholar occupied her every waking moment, and she was endlessly delighted when he confessed he felt the same towards her. The two married soon after, and have remained blissfully in love ever since. When Iona is not with their children or attending court, she can be found at her husband's side, assisting him with his numerous research projects.
