RECORDED AUDIO AND VIDEO PLUS PERSONAL TESTIMONY
EXERPTS ON SHADE'S INVOLVEMENT WITH SKIDATEL AND WATCHER

"You'd think... I would... have known." Skidatel scowled down at the dandelion in his talons. It started to turn grey, wilting and collapsing into dust. Skidatel growled. "All that work, trying to uncover the secrets of Shade... only to be cursed with death itself."
Watcher smiled dryly at him. "What did you think would happen? We'd get out of there without punishment?"
"I thought you said the Shade was asleep. How could it punish me when it's asleep?" Skidatel replied, the pitch of his voice rising with frustration.
"Skidatel... Just because it's asleep doesn't mean it's not sentient. In fact, in the time we were gone, there seems to have been an incident."
"What?"
"You know how I mentioned Gut, that traitorous monster, summoned a Shade entity?"
"Yes... I thought you dismissed that as rumours."
"I did. I thought it would be too far-fetched. I didn't think it would wake yet. I was wrong."
"You... confirmed it?" Skidatel queried, voice tinged with fear and curiosity.
"That Shade entity... it's in our clan, now."
Skidatel hesitated. "What?"
"Come with me. I'd like you to meet a little creature named Shade." Watcher turned, leading him towards the brig. He bound after her, the grass around his feet wilting with every step.

Skidatel had never thought a baby Gaoler could look quite as menacing or unearthly as this one. As he came around the corner to look into its cell, the child glared up at him with furious, glowing red eyes. The veins that ran through its fur pulsed a brighter, angrier crimson. "Release me, you foolish dragons," it said in a deep, unnerving voice that was far beyond its years.
"Foolish? We'd be foolish to listen to you," Watcher replied.
"No. You only postpone your destruction."
Shade snarled, and pure darkness started creeping up the walls. The darkness stopped at the plasma doorway, burning up a bit before receding. It snarled again, and suddenly the entire base's lights flickered out. Its fangs glinted in the light of its eyes, dripping with blood. A cold cascade of fear ran down Skidatel's spine. He started breathing faster, his heart pounding.
With a series of clangs, the lights turned back on individually. There was no blood; he must have hallucinated it. Watcher looked unnerved.
She began, "Did it just turn off the-"
"Lights? I don't think it did," Skidatel replied. He hadn't felt Shade's magic leave the chamber.
Watcher's eyes flashed. "Then there's someone here working for it. I don't think that was a coincidence."
The two turned and booked it for the control room, Shade growling from its cell behind them.

Watcher and Skidatel barged into the control room, which was part of the leader's den. Skidatel was met by the sight of the clan's leader, Sparrowe, unconscious against the wall. A long-haired entity that was hard for Skidatel to see was hovering over the control board but dropped to its talons when the pair stepped into the room. Skidatel realized that the creature was a wingless Tundra dragon.
"I see you came to investigate the quick power outage?" it said in a raspy voice.
Squelching footsteps travelled into the room behind the pair. Skidatel glanced behind him and saw an eldritch Bogsneak with long, green, disgusting hair. Its claws were extended and its forearms were freakishly muscular.
Another Bogsneak materialized nearby, the effects of some kind of invisibility enchantment wearing off. "You ran yourself into a trap, foolish dragons," the enchanted Bogsneak, who Skidatel recognized as Jungwon the Wizard, growled.
"How did you break through security...?" Watcher trailed off, sizing up the three dragons. They were all only a little bit smaller than her. Skidatel took a deep breath, putting his magic abilities at ready. He couldn't kill dragons as fast as he could smaller life such as plants and rodents, but he could most certainly help in a fight. If these three attacked, Skidatel, a mage, and Watcher, a strong melee fighter, would be able to work together well.
