The first Lykos
The first Lykos

The first Lýkos was a lonesome, sickly dragon in the Shattered Plain. At the the time of her hatching, there was a sickness going around her birth clan. The illness took her parents, and one of her siblings. After losing her parents, she and her sister were taken in by a family friend. While her sister recovered and eventually left on her own, Hayami remained sickly, and bedridden. She could see the world outside the window of her bedroom, but she was too weak to leave and see it firsthand. No one but her caretakers and the clan's doctor would come to visit her for fear of becoming ill themselves, leaving her terribly lonely She wished every day for strength to recover and the camaraderie of others. Under the light of the next full moon, Earthshaker finally answered her prayers, though not in the way she'd expected. Under the light of the moon streaming through her window, her form began to change. Fur sprouted across her body, teeth grew into fangs. A keen nose, fluffy ears, and the strength to run as far as she wanted. She felt energized and capable for the first time she could remember. She spent the night running and hunting across the Plains, rejoicing in her newfound wellness. |

Hayami grew stronger with each full moon, her illness all but gone. Her caretakers rejoiced, having thought she would be a lost cause till now. Other clanmates were suspicious, but none had proof of any wrongdoing. All was well until some dragons began to report sightings of a dragon-sized wolf that hunted their lands. Hunters were hired to track the beast down, not knowing it was Hayami. They found and attacked her one full moon, and though she escaped relatively unharmed, she knew she could not stay. She wouldn't leave alone, however. Two of the hunters who'd gone joined the hunt for her, had been bitten in the process. The two of them had been changed as well, coming to share her blessing. Seeking Hayami out after their first transformation, they asked to join her. While they'd initially been scared and upset, they realized how free they felt, for the first time in many years. And so the three formed a pack, and the first Lýkos' second wish was fulfilled; she was no longer alone |
