Biography
Harlequin/Jester/Firebreather
Born in the dark reaches of the Shadowbinder's territory, Vincent was the only dragon from his clutch to remain on this earthly plain. Two younger siblings would wander off to different water lairs, names that now escape the elderly dragon. His father, as cold as the ice that had borne him, eventually left the shadows for a new home in the Zephyr Steppes. His mother, likewise left, travelling the world until finally settling down in the element of her birth, giving herself up to the Tidelord.
Feeling the need to escape the shadows, Vincent set off, finding challenges awaiting the young dragon. He fought his way through the Tidelord's Domain, having no idea how close he had been to his mother, until he had found his way to the Windswept Plateau. There he met a Light dragon and befriended her. Eventually they became close and had one nest hatch. He soon found out that she had borne other hatchlings, only to have them be exalted to the Windsinger not too long after they had hatched.
This was no good. If he was going to have children, even though he understood the honor it was to serve one of the deities, he wanted them to be the ones to decide whether or not to go. He wanted them to be grown and fully aware of the world and what it meant to serve the deities.
However, once his two children had reached adulthood, he returned to their lair, finding them gone. Panicked, he searched everywhere, asking any drake he could. When he realized that she had taken them out to the fields and offered not only them but herself as well to the Windsinger, his heart broke. He knew she had been adamant they not be named, but now he understood why. She didn't want to get attached to them. Unlike himself, she didn't care about her children except as offerings to their deity.
Saddened, he left the lair, wandering the world until he finally found a space in Cairnstone Rest. There he remained, single and alone, offering his services to the lair as needed, learning what he had to for a task and carrying it out to the best of his ability.
Though, one day he felt a pull and so left his current home. He wasted no time, returning to his homeland, but not stopping. There was nothing for him in the Tangled Wood. Not anymore. No. He headed straight for the Sea of a Thousand Currents, nearly on the verge of exhaustion as he splashed down into the water, having missed the sandy beach.
Luck was on his side as he was found by a pair of dragons out fishing. They kept him safe and took him to the lair they were staying in. Once inside he was warmly greeted by a pale, splotch-furred tundra with green legs and ruff. Permafrost offered Vincent a new home in their lair, knowing that the old spiral would feel right at home with other ancient dragons who had found their way there, as well as the bustle from the younger dragons as they kept the lair running in top shape.
Feeling a sense of peace, Vincent settled down, more than ready to do what he had to in order to help his new lair mates out. Maybe this would be his final home? Maybe he would be able to put the past behind him and live again?
That, he knew, only time would tell.
