Sailor
Others would say pirate...

Cheerful | Flexible | Manipulative

Aquamarine told her siblings she was in search of her mother, some lonely and sad soul who had perished beyond the Sea Of A Hundred Currents. Seemingly sweet and sincere, with a heart of gold, Aquamarine was much loved by her companions and her farewell was bittersweet. The truth of it, however, was that Aquamarine was wily, covetuous and fleeing from a life she deemed much too mediocre for her liking. Her siblings would be left worrying for Aquamarine’s fate, while she enjoyed the feeling of gold between her claws. As part of a nest of three, with her siblings Crux and Nurax, Aquamarine was more than accustomed to learning to share and play fair. That did not mean that she was not able to con her crew-members out of their fare share of gold, skimming a little off the top to send back home to her family. The sad tale of a daughter pining after her mother was usually all that Aquamarine needed to ensure she evaded trouble, with a twinkle and a bat of her large, blue eyes. As a pirate, Aquamarine excelled - and her ship became a fearsome sight on the seas, the bane of many merchants and a constant source of anxiety for sailors. Her path was a bloody crescent, scored across the seas, and Aquamarine never felt more alive than when she was on the sea. There’s no doubt that she missed her siblings all the same, and often Aquamarine would write letters to them while away, telling them that her adventures were going well and that she couldn’t wait to see them again.

Her plan was that she would return to them as a legend. She had no intention of telling them where she got her treasure and certainly, no intention of telling them about the battles she had overseen. This freedom was ecstasy to Aquamarine, and she was at the top of her game; Although, like all things, when they go up - they must come down at some point. She was enamoured with a strange relic she had discovered, an ancient compass of some sort - it did not point north, but rather some other vague direction. Aquamarine was fascinated and ordered the ship’s scholars to research it as much as they could - all the while, Aquamarine was slowly drawn in by this object’s qualities. It was beautiful, and she kept it close by at all times. Eventually, the scholars came back to her - speaking of its value and a secret treasure that lay somewhere beyond the horizon; It had supposedly been lost for a long time, and was said to grant one immortality for the rest of their days as well as fantastic wealth.

Slowly taken in by the compass, Aquamarine spent days drawing maps and plotting the best journey to take. She didn’t eat. She didn’t rest. The compass bid her forward, and Aquamarine moved ever-forward, ever-hungry, ever-determined to reach her goal. There was nothing on Earth that could convince Aquamarine otherwise - and she drifted ever onwards into madness. Crewmembers came and went, but Aquamarine remained stalwart. She was cheerful and bold, egging others on in her quest - and eventually they seized upon an ancient tower on a mysterious island. The compass trembled, clung to Aquamarine’s wings as she scoured the island in desperate search for that-which she had spent years hunting for. Her letters had long-since stopped, and soon Aquamarine was nothing-more than a ghostly pirate, forever searching for her treasure. It isn’t known what killed her specifically. Thirst? Hunger? Paranoia, that someone else got there before her? Some individuals suspect that the compass…forever pointing in some vague direction, might be the true answer to that.
