______ Flare is a bit of an odd one out among her courier coworkers. She's a Fae, to state the obvious. Not the courier breed at all. So how did she come to be in the courier service?

______ Well, it started when an elderly courier was knocked from the sky by an enterprising band of dragons after his package. Flare jumped in, and managed to help the old dragon drive off his attackers before they could take his cargo. He thanked her and went on his way, and that was that.

______ Fast forward a few months, and Flare has encountered and helped out the elderly dragon several times. Eventually, he last time, he asked Flare to deliver the package he was carrying to a clan neighboring the Thornspeakers in the Viridian Labyrinth. He'd come down with a cold, and was too exhausted to continue. Flare gladly promised to take care of it for him, though not without dragging him to Tamua first. She left her friend in the Imperial's care before flying off to finish the delivery.

______ Apparently, her courier friend had mentioned how helpful Flare had been, and though he was too prideful to retire, the other couriers decided to ask Flare if she was okay to sub for him every once and a while. If they asked him to take a break, he'd refuse, but maybe if he knew Flare was okay to take care of it he'd cut himself some more slack? He wasn't getting any younger, and they were a bit worried for him. Flare accepted, and so began her courier career.

______ Initially, Flare was only helping out maybe once every couple months or so, but as her friend got older, she began helping out more and more often. Sure, she was attacked more often due to not being a courier breed - which was extremely illegal to do - but Flare never lost a package. She even asked Fulgurite for some tips, and trained under the Imperial for a while so she'd be able to evade or drive off any inevitable attackers.

______ Sadly, as time passed, the inevitable happened, and Flare's old courier friend passed away. She was devastated when she was told, and after crying for ten minutes, it occurred to her to ask if that meant she'd lose her job. The other couriers looked at each other, before smiling and shaking their heads. Flare had been at it long enough to be known and recognized by all eleven flights, and really, the couriers could use any willing hands they could get, no matter how small.

______ And so this is how a Fae dragon became a courier of Sornieth. Sure, she's ambushed more often than the others due to her breed, but Fulgurite doesn't do her work by halves. What Flare can't slip between and dodge, she hits with stinging, lightning-quick blasts of light magic. And as a Fae, she (usually) has plenty to throw around.
