Biography
"We can see when time began.
We can see when time will end. And we can see what comes after. That is our gift and our curse. The Moirai carry the burden of all." |
The emergence of a fourth Ancient breed had the realm's naysayers and doomspellers busy for weeks, with many predicting that the frightening-looking aberrations and their savage culture would be the downfall of society. But as with previous Ancient awakenings, the newly discovered dragons integrated themselves into modern life, or slunk back into the holes they crawled out from, and any downfalls that occurred during that period were purely coincidental.
The Lastsparks first encounter with the Ancient plaguelings came when a team of their gatherers returned from the Scarred Wasteland with a new acquaintance - an aberration named Moirai. [i[For clarity - their collective name is 'The Moirai', and their individual names are Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos, for they have three heads, each with its own mind and personality. Three heads is rather unusual for the current generation of generally two-headed aberrations, whose species mutate monstrously after every exposure to the virulent cauldron of their ancestral home in the Wyrmwound.
The Moirai is a cryptic dragon who, despite their ghoulish appearance, carries with them an air of importance. Often telling stories about themselves and their gifts, many of the clan have come to believe that the Ancient dragon does indeed have a deep connection with fate. The serene middle head, Clotho, has uncanny knowledge of future events, said to be aided by her large third eye. Proud Lachesis, the left head, always seems to know of the latest happenings in the realm. And on the right is the sunken and shrivelled head of Atropos the blind, who sleeps often but will share strange tales of long past if coaxed.
The Moirai had appeared out of nowhere at the tent of the gatherers, who were camped perilously close to the Wyrmwound while they hunted for the noxious potion ingredients the clan's coven had requested. When asked how they knew the team would be there, The Moirai had said as one "We know everything. Past, present, and future." But they would not explain further, and as they seemed benign in nature if not in looks, they were invited back to The Lastsparks lair.
Some aberrations chose to stay in their homeland, wanting to prove themselves to the Plaguebringer who had forgotten about their existence entirely. Others, feeling less attached to the Scarred Wasteland and the deity who had abandoned them, ventured out into other regions of Sornieth. Faced with the bounty of the open world, The Moirai were interested in broadening their experiences and accepted the offer to visit The Lastsparks in the Shifting Expanse.
Settling into the lair, The Moirai are most comfortable among the resident coven, and have greatly aided their soothsayers understanding of fortune and destiny. The aberration's own clairvoyant insights are generally kept to themselves outside of storytelling, as interfering with the natural order is dangerous; though if things get slow a little prophecy here or there is good way to stir some drama. Occasionally, they will offer up important information if it is in the best interests of the clan, or in the worst interests of their enemies. For while they may seem quiet and enigmatic, The Moirai are still an aberration - proud and strong, and fiercely loyal to whoever has earned their trust. It is wise to heed Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos if they impart their wisdom upon you, or risk falling foul of the claws of fate...
