Artemis was unusual as a hatchling. She liked maps better than fighting and drew more than she trained. Having her home clan being small and having war affairs at the time, she was often frowned upon her entire life for doing this. When she showed her parents her first map, they snatched it from her and tore it in half harshly. She never showed her parents anything she made ever again. She often drew maps of her homeland, crossing out each patch of land her clan lost after each fight they lost.

Only 2 months later her clan disbanded, her parents rushing to join another without her. She had to scramble to the land of the Arcanist without them, for it was the closest area she could find. She passed out right before reaching the Crystalspine Reaches and the clans that resided in them. She woke up on flooring made of crystal, two dragons arguing beside her and not taking notice of her awakening. Raising her head, she looked at the two dragons standing before her and fighting. One was a spiral, twisting himself into a knot as he argued with a blue veilspun She lifted her head, looking at the two in confusion. She saw a small pile of folded clothes beside her, looking at them curiously. She also noticed her pearl beside the garments, thank the Arcanist it was still intact. She lifted her body, grabbing the pearl before she spoke. "Who are you?" She said, looking at the two dragons. Said dragons stopped arguing immediately. The spiral's eyes lit up, quickly untying his body from its literal knot. "Hello! My name is Inyenyeri, and this grumpy guy beside me is Icicle, the clan's founder." Inyenyeri said, motioning to Icicle, who gave him a disapproving glare. "Anywho, we saw you at the edge of the Crystalspine Reaches and decided to take you in. How would you like to join our clan?" Inyenyeri asked, extending a talon toward her. Artemis lifted her own talon, a look of consideration flashing over her face before she shook it awkwardly. "Thank you, Inyenyeri." She said, getting up and stumbling a little before grabbing her pearl and the garments beside it. "Is there anywhere I could change?" She asked, looking around. "Right over there, dear. Take as much time as you need." Icicle said, motioning to a section of the cave where the crystal was carved to be a sort of divider, with a space above so a dragon could climb above it to get in. "Thanks." Artemis awkwardly said before going in the divided section and getting changed into her garments.

H A P P E N I N G S

Artemis sighed, looking at the map she was working on. It looked all wonky, the lines just didn't seem right. She decided to take a break, heading to the nursery to check up on her eggs. She jumped in delight, seeing them still healthy. Not a big deal, but still something good to tell Tem.

Artemis' plans were soon later cut short, Mentaiko hurling her body into Artemis' office with a terrified look on her face. "SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH INYENYERI!" Mentaiko yelled, sending Artemis in a flurry to grab her pearl with her tail swiftly and following the imperial. They both bounded into the medical section, Artemis gasping as she saw her beloved friend through the crowd of dragons. She pushed her way through, looking at her friend in horror. Gems were scattered all across Inyenyeri's unconscious body, some still spreading. She lifted her blindfold to get a better view. It was a terrible sight, gems bound themselves to his scale as Inyenyeri's unconscious body writhed as if it was trying to shake them off desperately but couldn't. Artemis waited for hours, putting any and all work she had for that day aside. She just wanted to make sure her friend was safe. Her face lit up the moment she saw Inyenyeri awaken.

Years later, Artemis was reading a picture book, Amber and Starfall beside her as she read a story to each of the hatchlings. "The end, now get to bed." Artemis said, jokingly using a threatening tone. Both hatchlings giggled, racing each other to their beds and curling up to sleep.
