______Araora's egg hatched in an abandoned nest somewhere in the vast open grasslands of the Windswept Plateau. Aside from the small crystal creature, their nest was empty. Even the territory seemed unclaimed, without even a dragon's footprint to flatten the tall grasses. The only dragons present at the time were two other young wildclaws, hardly older than he.

______"Felar! Get over here, it worked! It's hatching," called out the butterfly-winged female, who had been huddled around the egg. She was only two heads taller than Araora's egg.

______"Yeah, okay, you say that Dendar, but are you sure we're safe?" hesitantly asked Felar as he emerged from his nearby hiding place, "You're absolutely certain we didn't accidentally curse it?"

______"Don't say that! You're gonna scare him."

______"Oh, please. He can't speak yet."
__

__
______Araora pushed his head out of the broken shell with a bit more force, his egg tooth loosening a bit in the process. As he looked between the two, something odd occurred to him. He could understand them both, but... was he not yet supposed to?

______"What's going on?" asked Araora. His brilliantly bright eyes caught the light as they came fully into the sun, causing his pupils to narrow.

______The two wildclaw focused their attention back on the half-hatched wyrmling and shrieked in union. Araora withdrew quickly back into his shell. Did he do something wrong? Was he in danger? He couldn't be sure, so for a few minutes, he wrapped himself up tightly within his egg once again. All he could do now was listen in, but try as he might, the two had jumped back as well. Whatever words they were whispering were too quiet and too distant for him to hear.

______Five minutes passed, and Araora remained tucked snugly within his shell. By now, he had come to the conclusion he'd be quite content to sit in there until the two wildclaws were gone. Or forever, possibly. His plans were interrupted by the sound of footfalls drawing nearer once more.

______"H-hey, it's okay," cooed Dendar, "you're safe. We're not going to hurt you."

______Felar continued, "Yeah, sorry we freaked out. We didn't mean to frighten you. It's just, uh... we didn't expect-"

______"You just startled us, that's all. Don't worry. You can come out now, if you want."

______Araora hesitated. From his perspective, they were much larger than he, but some part of him felt compelled to hear them out... He stuck his head back out of his egg.

______"I have a question," stated Dendar, "and after I'll explain everything. You can... talk, right? So, do you have a... name?"

______Araora thought to himself for a moment. He did, in fact, but was beginning to realize that maybe he wasn't supposed to. Still, he wasn't sure why. "I'm Araora."

______Dendar and Felar, who were by now sat side by side, blinked several times in response. Felar was clearly at a loss for words, so Dendar held up the conversation as best she could. "Araora, that's... a lovely name!" Her face brightened, and some of the tension was lifted from the air. She began to explain their unique situation

______"I'm Dendar, and this is Felar. We're both orphans, we met about three weeks ago. I never knew my parents, and Felar's a runaway. We were looking for a shelter and some food, but we found you out here in this weird nest all alone about a week ago. Your egg was cold, so we assumed... it wasn't worth sticking around. Anyway, we moved on. Not too long later, we found a cave and we were gonna stay there awhile, but we found some weird runes and a poem written on the wall in glowing green letters."

______Felar butted into the conversation, blurting out his words. "My dad always used to talk about weird magic and incantations! It looked like a spell. We thought it might be one used for healing."

______"So we wrote it down as best we could and ran back. We repeated it, and your egg glowed, and-"

______"And the wind picked up, like really strong all of a sudden! We almost got blown away-"

______"-and nothing happened after that. At least for awhile. We stuck around for a little while to see for sure nothing happened, though, and I'm glad we did. Your egg warmed up some. Not enough though, so Felar and I have been sat here trying to help. We weren't sure if you were going to hatch or if we could do it right-"

______"Or if we'd accidentally put a curse on your egg or something and were about to hatch a Shade monster-"

______"-but everything turned out fine in the end," Dendar concluded with a half-uneasy tone. The two stopped interrupting one another, each observing the half-hatched dragon carefully. Araora suspected they held a new thought in their minds.

______"What?" asked the green hatchling.

______"We should probably help you out of your egg the rest of the way," commented Felar.

______Araora didn't protest. Over the course of the next five minutes or so, the two elder wyrmlings assisted the green wildclaw in removing bits of shell. Still weak on his legs, Araora mustered what little strength he had and stumbled free with some difficulty by the end. The two inspected him closely.

______"Yep," said Felar bluntly, "looks normal. Mostly."

______"Kinda shiny," Dendar remarked with a smile. "Shiny means healthy, I think."

______By then, Araora had already made up his mind to join his fellow orphans before they even asked him to. Even if he wasn't as weak as the newborn he was, he would have, now that his trust had been restored. He rode upon Felar's back as the troupe returned to the cave for shelter, and just as they discovered the strange runes had vanished, a storm rolled over the Windswept Plateau from the east. For the next few weeks, the youngsters made do with what they could muster in order to survive. Only after this trial were they discovered: Dustwind Clan, in nearly its entire population - several dozens at the time - came across their cave. Upon hearing their story, the clan's leader refused to leave them behind.

As Dustwind Clan migrated away from the Zephyr Steppes and towards the Gale Sanctum, the clan came upon an abandoned lair. Three young wildclaws, Araora, Dendar and Felar, were huddled together. Strangely, none of these wyrmlings were related nor were they hatched together, but had rather encountered one another whilst wandering the Zephyr Steppes seeking a caretaker. The three eventually agreed to care for one another and settled down in the abandoned lair. Mara refused to carry on without the three, feeling strongly they should not be left to fend for themselves. To the delight of all, they were adopted and became the clan's most energized initiates.

Araora is the youngest of the Wildclaw trio.
