-although NC is working to become more self-sufficient, most of NC's funding and raw materials still come from their connections, whether direct or indirect, with corporations in the Shifting Expanse- they sell some of their smaller technological breakthroughs. the fact that this ends up contributing to Lightning's military-industrial complex is highly unfortunate, but unavoidable.

-inventor and CEO of a large corporation in the Turrets of Goldensparc, one of the richest dragons in the Shifting Expanse. Secretly transports a lot of raw materials and electronics to the NC base and has a few employees partaking in a bit of corporate espionage (sometimes using her Portal Watcher familiar) to keep the organization up to date on the latest Lightning tech. She's not a part of NC and isn't privy to sensitive information- she's in it purely for the money. She's given details of some of the smaller technological breakthroughs made by NC as a group and passes them off as her own to make a profit for herself (which is secretly shared with NC, of course).

-Joule is actively investigating NC behind their back; she hasn't gotten very far, but she knows there's much more where 'her' inventions came from and NC is keeping the real science from her- technology that could cement her into a position of great power if she could get an industrial monopoly on it. She wants to either send a spy into NC, or gain enough information on them that she could barter for their truly revolutionary research. (She doesn't know the precise nature of what NC is doing, or their actual technological capabilities.) NC is well aware of this; although she hasn't made much progress, they still know to be careful, and have one of their own operatives keeping a very close watch on her. PHASE, her butler, is (unbeknownst to her) an Inner Sanctum agent.

-Merakai Industries is primarily an aeronautical corporation, but also dabbles in weapons manufacturing and has connections with the Lightning Flight military
