When Scalpel crawled into the Wood one day, she slunk in with blood still under her claws and frost clinging to her scales. The biggest mystery to her was how she even landed there, leagues and leaps away from the cold Ice flight prisons she claims to have escaped. Never mind that, Aleksei hissed, if she made herself useful it wouldn't matter how she got here. Doubtful. But if she were to be believed, her story would go something like this..

...Oh, yes, it was a ride. A ride I'll say, first pulled from my research station doing my perfectly reasonable experiments, and no you don't get to know what they were... Yes, the icepick does have something to do with it. Now let me finish. They took me out to the Icewarden's darkest keeps, they did, brokered a deal with me. I'd be spared the prison life and go free in a few years if I just ran some tests and did some research for a clan, see, looking for ways to control their dragons.. Not their dragons, haha, they wouldn't need controlling if that were the case. Or to control familiars... Whatever it was. They wanted steady claws, claws that worked brains and blood, there I was! It was boring, of course. I couldn't stand the routine. Or the regulations, oh, no. So I left! Yes, I took off and ran so they wouldn't see me in the sky... and flew when the Seekers came! And all on my own, I flew and ran and flew and ran and came here. Now pass me one of those sardines, would you?

Free to do as she pleases among a new crowd of mercenaries and murderers, Scalpel is as at home as any in Grimgore Wood. She puts some... curious skills to use on the battlefield, ducking and weaving ahead to weaken foes and leave them easy prey for her backup to finish off. As a "researcher", she and her like-minded cohorts run their own experiments behind closed doors. So long as the results are worth their time, Ashby and the Grimgore dragons pay no mind. If the clan is ever in need of information, she's the first they go to, and the same goes for any stray dragons they catch sneaking around Grimgore borders. She and that icepick are actually quite persuasive.
