Biography
The Family Wreath's Bow
Decio is the culmination of a particularly odd branch of his family tree and their mission to back-cross Stogwen's blood 10 times into one dragon. Growing up, Decio always knew he was special, but never really knew why. He has a lot of health problems-- retained baby teeth, bone spurs, colorblindness, just to name a few-- but he never understood why any of that was supposed to be a mark of greatness and potential.
Once he found out why, Decio was privately horrified. He made a big song and dance about how honored he was that the universe gave him this opportunity, but really, that was just to placate his crazy family. At the first opportunity, Decio yeeted himself into the forest with such force and determination that all of his relatives were left stunned. He got his claws on 2 scatterscrolls, and fortunately, that was all it took for him to look different in a way he could be happy with.
Because of the early success and popularity of the Stogwen Project, a fairly huge portion of the world's coatls can trace their lineage back to Stogwen in one way or another. This is why, if Decio were ever to have a mate, he could never be happy with another coatl... and the one time he made an exception, he found out she was lying to him. He's largely avoided any interaction with the concept of geneology and family trees beyond that. Decio has cultivated an interest in botany in his hermitage. And medicine, owing to his (largely self-treated) giant host of genetic problems.
Decio is suspicious of others, mostly because there's usually only one thing people ever want to ask him about, and he's automatically suspicious of other coatls on sight, mostly because of his former paramour's deception. He's prickly and grouchy, avoiding any talk of his dubious celebrity like the plague. It's extremely difficult for his children to track him down, but those who have had the audacity to try to meet him have found that he's actively, threateningly hostile toward the idea. Decio seems hell-bent on being the most actively hostile and terrible father among all the Stogwens.
He has, however, found solace in his friendships with various members of Project Chosen. He finds it amusing that the super-outcrossed godlings feel the same burnout he does, even though he's a failed attempt to do the same thing their project succeeded in. After all, Stogwen was just a humble and clueless blacksmith with nothing inherently special in the blood. Just with an endless tide of offspring and descendants rolling across Sornieth.
It's a comfort to Decio that his lineage's founder didn't ask for any of this either.
"They said I could be anything, so I @$#%ed off into the woods and never talked to any of them ever again."
I'm the first 10-tuple Stogwen onsite! And only ate 2 scatters to look like this!
