"I can see everything but my own past" Aura never grew up. Born in the ashfall wastes to an earthborn father and fireborn mother, Aura was never quite healthy. Prone to fits of coughing too harsh for their tiny body, eyes that never opened and a frail exterior, the clan healer declared that there wasn't much to do. Either the tiny, pre-mature hatchling would survive, or they wouldn't. This sparked argument between their parents. Their father pleaded to let him return to Dragonhome to pray to the Earthshaker to help but their mother, never one to believe in gods who appeared to have long since abandoned the world, wanted to trust the advice of the healer and stay put, where they would all be safe. So he stayed, and watched over mother and child as their pride and joy withered in the smoke filled landscape. He couldn't watch and wait forever, and, in the dark of night he stole the child away to Dragonhome. They wouldn't survive the journey. As their father knelt at the foot of the pillar, grasping his child to his chest, tears flowed down his dust-caked skin. He blamed himself for waiting, he blamed his mate for her inaction, and he blamed the gods for not intervening. So they stayed, surrounded by rivers of tears as his scales grew cold, and the last of the tears seeped into the ground. It was then, a miracle happened. The dust that had caked the life-less scales of his child cracked as the tears their father had shed enveloped the child, bringing new life into the baby as their eyes opened anew, a faded orange that barely resembled the deep fire eyes they were born with. They crawled out of the frozen arms of their father, who was nothing but a strange statue to them, their head spinning with thoughts and visions that were not their own. "Be reborn, my disciple" a disembodied voice whispered in their ear before they were left with the morbid statue to create their own life anew. Auracle has made a name for themself trading in memories that dragons wish they could relive. Unfortunately they still see nothing but a sandstorm in the place where their own memories should be. |
