Biography

With the entirety of Mads and Co. is made up of oddballs, Judah might stand out as someone who seems pretty normal. Aesthetically, the only unusual thing he has is the runic scars on his hands and pale pink eyes with pale pink hair, all of which glow softly in the dark. His demeanour is reserved and awkward, the kind of social ineptitude that mostly just invokes sympathy. Unlike the more outlandish members, he also carries normal weapons, a small rapier, a crossbow, and a gun he was gifted by Maddox.

Maybe he is more normal than them. He wasn't born with any sort of demonic hertiage, instead learning infernal magic in a bid to please his adoptive father. He wasn't born with any sort of magical powers, instead sticking his nose in all the tomes he could get his hands on during his adventures. He would probably say his backstory is normal: though, that would be a lie, considering he's the adopted son of the petty kingdom of Mayflower, located between the Wasteland and the Isles. He spent his whole life trying to impress the people around him to minimal results, despite proving that he was a very talented adventurer. When the petty kingdom of Mayflower fell, his own father having betrayed him and the people, Judah and his closest friend Shiloh were mortally wounded.

It was then that his life took a turn for the bizarre: furious at the pointlessness of it all, a constant uphill struggle all for nothing, he would tear the tome from his waist and dig his fingers into his wounds, using his now impressive infernal powers to tear a pinprick hole in the physical dimension and scream.

And that's how he ended up here. He offered up his soul to save Shiloh and himself, which worked- though it horrified Shiloh enough that he fled. He met Maddox not long after and joined forces with him, which helped him understand what his life was now. That being hunting down escaped infernal beings, or otherwise doing things for infernal masters in order to pay off their debt.

He doesn't necessarily mind the work, but he finds it very hard to believe that he's worthy of being surrounded by the people he is. Despite being well liked by the group he still cannot shake the thought that he is only being temporarily entertained, and that one day his life will truly crash down around him. Despite this internal struggle, he is a very compassionate man who may be one of the best listeners you'll ever meet and never judge what it is you have to say.

Trivia
  • He has a medium build at first glance, but those wiry muscles have way more power behind them then you'd expect. He can absolutely throw someone over his shoulder and piledrive them if he has to. He'll apologise the entire time, though.
  • Has medium length wavy hair which he can never ever seem to tame. Mostly he leaves it in a low ponytail with a little bow.
  • His civilian clothes, so to speak, suggest that he's been on the road for a while but are well tailored enough to hint that he once had access to money.
  • Carries lavender and wisteria around with him in his pockets and as such always smells like them. Will secretly huff them to calm himself down.

Relationships with other members:
  • Maddox: Like everyone else in Mads & Co, Judah is deeply indebted to Maddox Bane. He's innately wary of others due to his past but there's something about Maddox that- despite all the blaringly loud warnings signs suggesting otherwise- makes him feel trustworthy. He takes Maddox's teasing in stride as much as someone like him can, and when Maddox teaches the group Judah is quietly studious. Often unbeknownst to the rest of the crew, he will practice what he is shown and will sometimes go out of his way to find Maddox and ask for extra help. Unusually perhaps, he also often tries to check in with Maddox to see if he as a person is doing alright and if he needs any help. Not manual help, but emotional support.
  • Quinilyn: Oh, Judah is pretty oblivious to the fact that Quin likes him. A lot. He's never really had anyone be interested in him legitimately, for one, and he's so self-depreciating that the idea of anyone liking him without it being a joke or out of pity is really hard to swallow. Especially when that person is Quin, a beautiful imp of a man who seems above Judah in every way possible. He does like him back though, sneaks glances when he can. He tries to be subtle about it, but everyone knows.
  • Cecil: He's frighteningly gorgeous and that tends to tongue tie poor Judah, but nevertheless when he can muscle past that part he greatly enjoys Cecil's company. He's always happy to spend time with him and the two of them often play chess together. He really wants to try and break that haughty shell Cecil has, but isn't sure how to, or if such a thing would even be inappropriate for a measly man like him to try.
  • Marcel: Both the twins are really unsettling, but there's something about Marcel that is worse. It feels like if he thought it was funny enough, he'd just put a knife through his hand. His puns are good though, and he actually does like the circus performances. If only he wasn't so scary.
  • Divius: Whilst Divius can be, well, quite a person to spend time with, Judah doesn't mind very much. He's fine listening to Divius talk about himself and what he's been doing- it's better than silence, after all. Frankly, he's a little jealous of his confidence and ego and secretly hopes maybe some of it will rub off on him, eventually.
  • Tango: He's fond of the mad little lady and the way she scolds his depressed mutterings when she hears them, he tries his best to keep an eye on her. He feels pretty bad that he wasn't around to stop her before she got a glimpse at Maddox's grimoire, a guilt that sits somewhere with all the other guilt he feels for everything else that's ever happened in his life.
  • Danggeumaegi: The two of them are vastly, vastly different people from what could be considered entirely opposite backgrounds. Despite that, they get along pretty well. Judah isn't jealous of her powers, and Aegi isn't jealous that Judah was able to choose his own path. He enjoys sharing a glass of wine with her in the evening when everything's winding down, if Cecil is busy. She does tease him a lot, though.
  • Altair: Holy mother of stars why did it have to be this guy again?! He's scary and big and he's even more unhinged than the last time they met. Judah tries to avoid Altair as much as possible, which unfortunately isn't much considering they live in the same building. Fortunately, Altair seems to have forgotten their last entanglement over a relic ended with no one coming away a winner, since he's too busy following the non-dragons around like a big lost puppy.
  • Marceline: Just as freaky as her twin brother, she's just as deadly and horrifying, just in a different way. He swears one day he's going to wake up poisoned by one of the two of them. She definitely gets a kick out of how easy he is to frighten and upset.
