Biography
Lapetas
Magisa's experiments in creating new dragons from stone had been successful enough, but it isn't until Chiae joins her efforts that she's able to perfect the process. Lapetas is a marvel of art and alchemy both. Carved from quartz with careful attention to every detail and christened not with blood but tears, she blinks awake with a perfectly elegant gesture, as if she had simply been sleeping.
She can't explain why, but when she looks around, tears well up in her own eyes. She is beset, from the moment that her awareness kicks in, by an overwhelming and persistent sadness. As her creators try everything they can think of to stop her crying, they only manage to make it worse. And seeing their frustration, their efforts pulled into question by her defect, only makes Lapetas cry more.
In the end, she is left to her own devices. Sobbing softly and overwhelmed with the tragedy of each living thing, she treads to the lair's edge, where she meets Hyperion. And while he has never shown interest in the lair's other dragons before, he moves now to wipe the tears from her eyes.
They don't stop, of course. But as they soak into his stony skin, the longing frozen in his chest begins to melt.
