Bonsai

Bonsai was always the smallest of her sisters, but in a way, this is also made her the mightiest. Hailing from a long line of Guardian mercenary warriors, fighting and protecting others runs in her blood. She trained long and hard to hone her skills, even as a hatchling. She’s someone who never backs down from a challenge.

During her Search, Bonsai traveled far and wide, exploring every corner and hidden gem that Sornieth had to offer. Until one fateful night, she took her rest on the turtle-shaped island of Gale Rain. As she traversed its lush forests, looking for a place to shelter, a glimmer of light caught her attention. She followed its source to a hidden cave and what she found inside took her breath away. A huge treasure vault stood before her, so full with riches that they spilled all over the ground. It was mesmerizing. But as she stepped closer for another look, her sides were suddenly raked by reinforced iron claws.

“TRESPASSER! THIEF!” shrieked a furious voice. Bonsai whirled around to see an armored Skydancer lunging at her.

Immediately leaping into action, Bonsai fought back bravely, matching the other dragon blow for blow. It seemed she had met her match—for every strike she laid down, her attacker was ready and waiting. Finally, after what seemed like an absolute age, the brawling pair dropped from exhaustion.

The Skydancer snarled, “You’ll never get away with Clan Gale Rain’s treasure. Never!”

“I’d want no such thing,” Bonsai insisted, her sides heaving. “I’m just passing through on my Search. I needed a place to rest for the night.

The Skydancer considered this with narrowed eyes. “Hm. Perhaps you’re telling the truth. Perhaps not. Still. I’ll allow you one night to sleep here. If you’re not gone by morning, I slit your throat.”

But as it happens, one night stretched on into many more. Bonsai found herself enamored with the valiant Skydancer, whom she came to know as Lucy. There was a tugging feeling that she just couldn’t shake. This island was where she was meant to be. Nowadays, she helps Lucy guard Gale Rain’s treasure vault and fights to protect her new family from anyone that would do them harm or steal their shinies.
