Daedalus loved travelling to new places and seeing new things. He was particularly interested in the larger ruins of the Light territory and the deeper caverns of Earth. He'd travel alone, confident that his silver tongue could keep him out of trouble. Eventually he learned that some encounters he couldn't talk his way out of.

The bandits struck one evening while he was building a campfire for the night in the highland scrubs of Lightning territory. Daedalus had been hearing rustling noises and was able to see he was surrounded when the fire was lit. Before he could even offer a nervous greeting, a blow to the side of his head had him eating sand.

He awoke to find all of the small baubles from his Light ruins adventure gone along with his camping gear. The missing water skin was mourned keenly by his parched mouth. He walked through the area trying to find a settlement, but there was just a deserted desert all around.

At one point he grew delirious. Visions of another Pearlcatcher appeared ahead of him, always just out of range for a conversation. He followed her battered form without a second thought. Eventually they came to a structure where she dissapeared into a stone door. A mirage? Daedalus, unable to open the door, leaned against it in defeat.

"Whoa! You came back!"

Daedalus struggled to open a dry eye to see who was talking. Had he fallen asleep against the door? An imperial was leaning over him, her forearm shielding her eyes from the bright midday sun. How much time had passed?

"I didn't think I saw right, but you totally vanished and have now reappeared hours later! I tried opening that door, but it wouldn't budge. What is this place? Is their a healer in there? I was going to offer my services, but you don't seem to be injured anymore."

The bubbly imperial's barrage of questions didn't bother him. In fact he felt comforted as she spoke.

"Not much of a talker, hmm? Alright then, I have to get back soon anyways." She crouched down and was about to launch herself into the sky.

"Wait! Can I come with you?" Besides the extreme dryness, it was true that he no longer had injuries. There was no time to ponder the mystery because he was about to be left alone! The thought of being by himself made him sick with anxiety. Daedalus scrambled to his feet and scraped his arm against the door.

She looked back at him, the scrape on his arm mended itself as she watched. "I think you're more than what you seem, so sure! My clan is particularly fond of those from interesting lineages, so you'll fit right in."

Daedalus had no idea what she was talking about, but he never wanted to be alone again.
