"Sweet things?" The veilspun runs one of his whiskers through his softly-bristled forepaws, cleaning it.

"Essential. One uses much energy when flying as my kind do. There is no gliding, no soaring, no hanging midair as those of the clan with membranous wings can do. Only hovering." He buzzes his wings demonstratively - even the extra ones, which only seem to vibrate gently in comparison. Evidently, they don't make his flights any easier - what they add in maneuverability, they take away in drag.

"So if you wish to fly patrol - and I do - you must bring food along. Sugary food is efficient! Quick energy. Travels well as candy. Very pleasing." A short, decisive nod. "When I'm at rest, though, I much prefer a good bowl of fried mealworms."
