Shock
____________

Deep within the Tempest Spire of the Lightning Flight’s land lived a couple by the names of Ailey and Felixia. This couple were loyal servants to their deity, the Stormcatcher. They lived blissfully each and every day. Their bliss doubled when they finally had an egg hatch successfully. Out of this egg came a young female obelisk named Shock. Shock was a happy young dragon who spent her hatchling days playing and learning all the things that life as a dragon held in store for her. When she had grown up a little, Shock began to undergo intense training with her father, as he wished to prepare her for their family’s coming of age tradition.

This tradition was a quest of sorts that every young dragon had to undergo once they reached adulthood. Shock was to undergo this very same tradition once she hit adulthood as well, so while she trained she would bombard her father with tons of questions. To which he would give the same answer. “You will find out when you embark on your quest my child.” Shock would quickly become frustrated with these vague answers and stop asking her father questions. Something her father would notice, but could do nothing about. For he could not give her accurate answers due to every dragon’s quest being different from the others.

Once Shock hit adulthood it was time for her to approach the Stormcatcher, and receive her special quest. Upon seeing the Stormcatcher, Shock could hear his voice inside her mind. “Dear child, your time has come to go out into the wilds and find your true calling, your path in this life. For a great destiny awaits you in life. Go to the Ice domain. There resides a clan who could use your skills and knowledge. Be a Lightning Flight representative, and you will be greatly rewarded by me and the Icewarden alike.” When Stormcatcher finished speaking, Shock would nod and leave to begin her journey.

For a while Shock traveled through the different domains, until she came to the ice domain. Here she noticed that just like every other domain it had its own unique features and quirks. Shock rather liked how the ice domain looked and felt. It just seemed to feel right to her, which began to cause her to feel as though the Stormcatcher had spoken truth. Though little did Shock know that there were many dangerous creatures in this domain that she would have to battle during her travels. The battles were grueling, but she always came out alright and the victor.

It was during one such battle that Shock was suddenly joined by an older female guardian who had roared fiercely and helped her to kill the strange plant/snake-like creature she had been battling for hours. “Th… Thank you…” Shock would mutter in between breaths as she panted from exhaustion. “It was no problem. You’re in my clan’s territory, we strive to protect those in need.” The female guardian would respond with a small smile. “Are you injured young one?” The guardian would ask. Shock would simply shake her head no and sit down.

“No, I think I’m good. I’m just very tired. It seems like all I’ve done since entering this domain is fight. Is that normal here?” Shock would ask. “Ha, dear, that is normal for any domain you visit. Every domain has its fair share of dangerous creatures. You must be quite young indeed if you aren’t even aware of that fact.” The guardian would answer, her eyes widening in surprise. “If you need a place to rest you can return with me to my clan’s lair. Where you can rest in peace.” She would add.

Shock would think for a moment then nod as an acception of the guardian’s offer. “I would like that if you truly do not mind. My name is Shock by the way. It is a pleasure to meet you miss…” Shock would trail off realizing she didn’t even know the guardian’s name. “You can call me Crystal.” The guardian would give her name. “It is a pleasure to meet you as well Shock. Welcome to the Warriors Of Aegis clan’s territory. May your stay with us be a pleasant one.” Crystal would add with a smile.

The two would fall into silence as Crystal would lead Shock to the clan’s lair, a venerable lair deep within the Snowsquall Tundra. Shock would look around in awe at everything as they passed by. Many dragons would watch the two move through to an empty den where Shock would be staying. “I do hope you rest well, and enjoy your stay here Shock.” Crystal would speak before nodding her head in respect and leaving the young obelisk to make herself at home in her temporary den.

Some time would pass after Shock’s arrival in the Warriors Of Aegis’ territory. During that time Shock would find herself leaping forward to protect young hatchlings from danger, help fellow adults fight threats, and even being invited by Crystal to join the clan as a Lightning Flight representative. “You’ve proven yourself more than worthy of being a part of the Warriors Of Aegis Shock. Why don’t you join us and make the clan your home?” Crystal would pull Shock aside and ask her. “You would be okay with me permanently joining your clan Crystal?” Shock would ask in awe. “Of course! You’ve saved numerous of our members from certain death. We could use more powerful fighters such as yourself!” Crystal would exclaim with pride.

After taking a few days to mull it over, Shock would approach Crystal and accept the offer. Her heart warming at the thought of having found her forever home, but also at the thought of feeling as though she truly belonged here. Upon Shock’s acceptance of Crystal’s invitation a huge feast was held in Shock’s honor. During the feast Shock would take the very same oath that all Warriors Of Aegis take upon joining. An oath swearing to do what she could to protect and defend those in need even if it possibly meant giving up her own life to do so. With that done Shock was officially known as a member of the Warriors Of Aegis, a feat that made Shock’s old clan’s deity, the Stormcatcher, and her new one the Icewarden, proud.
