“Let me tell you a story, young ones. A story about a young ice fae named Glacier.” Began the old female guardian named Crystal. Before her sat a bunch of young hatchlings ready for their nightly story time. As soon as she stopped speaking the hatchlings would erupt into cheers and shouts. “Tell us!” “Yes, tell us!” Cheered the hatches with excitement. “Alright alright, settle down there small ones.” Crystal would chuckle as she’d pat each of their tiny heads, and begin telling the story.

“Born in the ice domain, Glacier was aptly named by her parents for she looked as though she had hatched out of a glacier itself. Even as a hatch the young fae showed great potential as an ice mage and fighter. Thus making the other members of the Warriors Of Aegis clan show great interest in the potential Glacier held. As she grew older Glacier excelled not just in ice magic, but also in combat, making her a double threat to anyone who dared to oppose her or her clan.” Crystal would begin telling the tale of Glacier


The hatchlings would listen deeply as their excitement grew with every word. Crystal would smile knowing that the youngsters of her clan enjoyed the stories of the clan’s history. Crystal firmly believed in teaching the youngsters these stories so that they may learn from them, and someday put those lessons to good use.

“Due to this when she came of age Glacier was asked to be an official warrior and flight representative for her clan. Something Glacier was more than happy to accept as the desire to protect and serve was strong within her. As she got older she learned many new spells and fighting tactics that would only prove to make her an even more formidable foe than she already was. This would also prove to be a very good thing for her clan as well.” Crystal would resume her tale.

The hatchlings eyes could be seen growing large as boulders as they listened intently. Their young brains soaking in all of the information of the story that their clan leader was telling. The young ones tails would swish occasionally in anticipation.

“On any given day Glacier can be found checking the clan’s records, to ensure all records are properly kept up to date. However Glacier can also be found training hatchlings in ice magic, and sometimes even teaching them how to defend themselves should they ever get into trouble. Sometimes Glacier can be found meeting with the clan’s other flight representatives about internal clan issues that need resolving, or even outside issues with other flights and/or clans that may arise.” Crystal would continue, her eyes scanning over each of the hatchlings faces as she spoke. “What else did Glacier do miss Crystal?” One hatchling would ask curiously.

“Well when Glacier isn’t doing any of her representative duties she can be found by a frozen lake practicing her own ice magic spells and forms. Though oftentimes she will go on missions to protect and serve another dragon in need, sometimes even going as far as to escort the dragon to a safe place. Glacier loves doing anything she can to give a helping hand throughout Sornieth, even if it’s just from within her own clan.” Crystal would happily answer the small hatchling’s question.

“Did Glacier ever get into any epic battles?” Another young hatchling would ask. “Well in fact, young one, Glacier was in many intense fights during her missions. Most against monsters out in the wilds. However there is one time where she got into a very intense battle here on our own turf. An angry banded owlcat had entered our territory, and came across a group of hatchlings playing. Glacier happened to be nearby when she heard the hatchlings screaming for help. Glacier flew to their aid and proceeded to battle the owlcat fiercely, as it had threatened the children of her clan.” Crystal would answer the curious hatch.

“As she fought she would throw a scratch, then a spell, then she would try to shred the owlcat. The owlcat would scratch and bite back just as fiercely as Glacier fought. This fight would go on for some time before Glacier would finally manage to down the beast, but not without having taken some serious damage herself.” Crystal would continue with the story.

“When the hatches were safe once more, Glacier would take them back to their parents before going to tend to her own wounds. Her wounds were deep, and some were quite severe, but fortunately Glacier knew a good healer and was able to have her wounds healed enough that they no longer seemed to bother her. After this event the rest of the clan came to respect Glacier even more than they already had. Yes she was still quite young and inexperienced in a lot of things, but her saving the next generation of the clan was a very heroic act in everyone's eyes. No Glacier may not have done so to gain fame or respect, but this is what she got.” Crystal would say, giving a soft amused chuckle as she saw the hatchlings look at each other in awe.

“Glacier had saved the hatches not because it was part of her duty to the clan, but because she genuinely cared about her clan, and wanted to see it succeed and be safe. Being able to show this in her actions is exactly why she had been named a flight representative in the first place, and is why no matter what she will always be one. For she is one of us, and we not only protect, but also have the backs of our own.” Crystal would finish just as Glacier herself would arrive behind the hatchlings.

“Are you telling stories of my good deeds to the hatches again Crystal?” Glacier would ask with an amused laugh as she watched the hatches all jump up and surround her with shouts of glee. “It’s Glacier, it’s really her!” They would yell and laugh as they’d all jump around at her feet. “Yes children, it is I. I see you’ve been told a good tale today by our leader. I hope you’ve found valuable lessons to take away from it.” She’d chuckle as she’d hug each and everyone of the hatchlings before nodding to Crystal, and escorting the young ones back to their respective dens.
