Subject 72's 1st head. She responds to the name Bocca, which was given to her by her "sisters". According to Dr. Hart, her original name was Pearl. Though she is the 2nd eldest, she is seemingly treated as the youngest "sister". Her body was procured from a noble seaside family which sacrificed her in some sort of local ritual. Dr. Hart got to know the family during his travels and as she fit the specifications for subject 72 perfectly, he simply waited for the sacrifice and then retrieved her body. Her mind was initially the most volatile of the 3 and experienced many breakdowns. However, after she was convinced by Subject 72.3 that they were sisters, she seemingly stabilized. As long as she believes this delusion, she is able to maintain her intelligence.
Personality and Precautions:
Bocca is a generally simple-minded and predictable dragon. She makes full use of her powers to discern truths and lies, acting negatively towards those she perceives as liars and positively towards those she perceives as honest. She is also rather vain, thinking of herself and her sisters as the most powerful and beautiful beings in the world. She can be somewhat lazy, spending most of her time sleeping, lounging, or eating. While she generally thinks that violence is beneath her, she will often instigate her sisters to "protect" her and/or wreak havoc on her behalf.
She values her bonds with her "sisters" and will lash out against anyone that may discredit their "sisterhood". She also has a deep fear of the sea, especially the sound of rushing water. She has a speech impediment in that she often stutters at the start of her sentences, most often with w's. She tends to be a glutton and is the head in charge of eating.
Summary:
- Use the loopholes found in the "Abilities" section in order to avoid lying to her.
- Do not point out anything that will anger her such as her false "sisterhood" and/or her speech impediment.
- She can be drugged very easily through her food, and as she shares a stomach with the rest of subject 72, this is a relatively easy way to sedate them.
- If she hears the sound of rushing water, she will temporarily freeze. This is unreliable but may be used very scarcely as a last resort safety precaution.
Abilities:
Bocca is able to detect lies in spoken words. As she can share her senses with the rest of subject 72, it was unclear at first that she was the one with this specific ability, but after multiple tests comparing results when she was awake vs when she was asleep, it is clear that she is the root of this ability. She cannot detect truths, only if something is a lie. However, she seems to believe anything that is not a lie is true which can be used with carefully worded statements. If a person completely believes their words and has no knowledge that it is false, then Bocca will not detect it as a lie. This power also only works with spoken words, written or gestural messages can bypass her ability. However, she is aware of this and may become suspicious if a conversation is mostly written or gestural.
