The creature's stuttering call of "Gar-un-de-thai?" echoed through the small space. Perhaps that was why, when she repeated herself, it was a bit quieter.

The Goetia-born in question was curled up sullenly in the farthest corner of what had once been Eibe's office. "What do you want."

Construct deflated a little as she shuffled in, struggling not to trip over her own tail. She'd lost feeling in it a few days ago, and Eibe still hadn't figured out why. "Mast-er Ei-be wish-es for a read-ing, Your Grace." She inched a bit closer to catch a glimpse of the glittering pearl that Garundethai kept at her side. "He says that he has met a new crea-ture and wants to know if it will go well."

Garundethai flicked her ear. "I cannot lie, so I tell you this honestly: I would rather cut my own tongue out than speak a word of the future to him."

"He will make it worse for you, Your Grace."

She snorted. "Nothing he could come up with even begins to compare to my definition of punishment, Construct. I hope you don't have a soul if only so that you'll never risk being dragged into the Underworld. I spent my whole life in a dark, hot cave full of fear and hatred. I've been working myself well past exhaustion since I was old enough to join a legion. I've had the King of Kings tell me to take a vacation and I've still tried to work under her nose. There is nothing Eibe can do to me that would hurt me more than knowing that I have to stay here until he's bored of me either way." She lashed her tail, glaring up at Construct from her dark, dark eyes. "At least this way, he might get bored of me sooner rather than later."
