Yukio is not a common sight in the Rest. A quiet Veilspun, he lives in a peaceful corner of the city, where he tends to a flock of songbirds and grows herbs for the Rest's medical team. He is technically employed by the clinic, and is assigned to look after the Rest's guard force. Though the peaceful atmosphere of the Rest doesn't often lend itself to injuries, Yukio often has to treat the various scrapes that Frith, Bonereader, and Rhianon get from their excursions. Yukio comes from a relatively peaceful background. Hatched in a northern part of the Snowsquall Tundra, he grew up among the stark beauty of the Southern Icefield. He fondly remembers the long winter nights of his childhood, how the deep snow muffled sound, letting him observe the stars in peaceful silence. He learned how to care for herbs in a greenhouse, but eventually decided it was time for him to leave the Icefield for a warmer climate. He was picked up directly by a T.R.A.F. airship, and luckily was brought back to the Rest instead of traveling through the unbearable heat of the Ashfall Waste. The bustling city was a bit of a shock for Yukio, but he found that he could have a little peace by living near the edge of the city, where a ring of forest had been set up. When he does come into the city to hang out, Yukio is something of an underground favorite. He likes to nurse a cup of tea at the Kitchen Sink, often chatting with Serene and Ema about their childhoods in the Southern Icefield. |
