Some dragons have many letters in their names. In fact, some dragons have so many letters in their names that other dragons give up on pronouncing it and just shorten their names to the first two syllables. This is what happened to Rya, real name unknown (because it would break the character limit in this bio). Hailing from the Southern Icefield, Rya was part of a Sorneith-wide rescue response team that sought out the panicked and distressed in ten out of eleven flights. In Arcane, there's not much the response team can do, since the entire territory itself sets off their distress detector, but it's the thought they're out there that counts.

Speaking of the distress detector, it's really just a giant control center run by Skydancers armed with amplifiers that allow them to precisely locate distress. These feathered dispatchers are trained to snap out commands to the rescuers while screaming and rolling around in pain. Well, except in Special Department 11, aka the Arcane Anomaly Alert Sector (aka the Department of AAA's,) where screaming and not issuing commands is the norm, because being assigned to monitoring the Arcane Flight is a cruel and unusual punishment that the head only gives to those that annoy them, or appear to have villainous tendencies.

Unsurprisingly, not many dragons have sympathies for those who end up in the Department of AAA's, because there's a mutual consensus that if you're there, you probably did something that deserved it. Except Rya, that is. Someone's got to catherd the dangerously unstable Skydancers, and that someone happened to be Rya. She has some advantages that makes it easy. Her stoneshape form is virtually indestructible, and when in a pinch she isn't afraid to use her ice magic to shut down any haywire "best idea evers" that sprout wings, a third eye, two extra heads, and try to teleport to the next dimension.
