She-ra Princess of Power was the very first thing I was ever a die-hard fan of. Kindergarten me would rush home from the bus and sit through soul train just to make sure I didn't miss a second of it. I can't recall ANY other similar rep for people in my gender box getting to go on fantasy adventures and be heroes fighting evil all boss like and there was one for every mood. Loved the toys too!

Then the Princesses of Power reboot came along and it is perfection. I was misty-eyed on several occasions watching my first ever fandom love "grow up" queer too (while also aging down for the intended audience). It's seriously better than the original. So wonderful.

I'll probably do Catra next at some point down the road. She was always my favourite though I definitely let my play with the toys influence my memory of her lol. My version was a lot more like the new one - tough life, overlooked a lot, felt betrayed when the only person who was ever nice to her joined the enemy, but eventually gets redeemed, living happily ever after with the person she loves most. Maybe. She'd have to take Melog if I did and I am growing pretty attached to having the two companion "animals" together.
