Biography
The journal starts:
His Tundra mother had thought he was just a broken, genetically messed-up hatchling. For the first eight years of what would be a long, long life, Isaac thought the same. He was a broken dragon, with no fur to keep him warm and a set of useless tiny wings instead of arms. Without his Tundra mother, he would have died in the ice and snow.
The day came that the Gaoler they called Stormfront came to their little village, and that same day the truth came with her. She laughed as she said it. "He's not deformed, he's just a Banescale. They're supposed to look like this."
Isaac knows he should've been more grateful to his Tundra mother, but like a true Tundra would, he has forgotten her entirely. Shades of black and the smell of roasting fish still bring him some childlike joy, but after years of her telling him he was a sad story and a broken child despite feeling perfectly fine, he attached himself to Stormfront and refused to let go. She was his true mother, for all intents and purposes.
What a shame, then, when the day came that she went to slumber and never awoke.
Isaac was far from home and completely alone, but Stormfront had left him one clue; a map and a letter detailing how to get to a friendly banescale willing to take him in. An invitation to find himself a new home, a new family.
He says he won't tell the rest of the story. Not today. Talking about Stormfront still makes him too sad.
