Nephthys is an Egyptian funerary goddess. She is the protector of the mummy, can work magic and has the power of prophecy. She is the sister-wife of Seth, the sister of Osiris and the younger twin sister of Isis. Nephthys loves her son Anubis, but since she was rejected by Osiris, whom she loves, she fell into a serious depression.

When Nephthys and her three siblings were old enough to get married she asked her parents to become the wife of Osiris, since she fell in love for him. Osiris, the oldest and wisest of the siblings, rejected her love, since he was the first born and already in love with his sister Isis. Nephthys had no choice but to marry her other brother, Seth, god of chaos. She likes him as well but her heart always belonged to Osiris. This may be one reason that she was not able to conceive a child of Seth. But in one night, when Isis was not at home, Nephthys clothed herself as Isis, made Osiris drunk and slept with him. She soon conceived a son, Anubis, but Isis found out that her sister cheated on her and her husband, so she broke off contact with her.
They did not have contact to each other, until Seth was able to kill Osiris. Nephthys, still in love with Osiris but married to his murderer, fell in a serious depression, not anymore able to take care of her son or her husband. She was forced by Isis to give birth to another child, a child of Horus, named Hapi. But since she was not able to stay the inner pain anymore, she murdered this child and was exiled to her murderous husband in the desert...
