He always found it ironic. Despite being the youngest of his clutch, he was named for the Great Bear; for one of the largest and most well-recognized constellations in the night sky. One would think that it would be a great honor to be given such a name, chosen for it over both his older siblings. UrsaMajor just saw it as a farce- a cruel joke. He wasn't the biggest- Orion had that on lock down, being an obelisk and all. He wasn't the prettiest- his brother UrsaMinor was the one who drew the eye with his pleasing, matching color scheme. That just left UrsaMajor. The odd duck. The screwup. The hiccup.

He shouldn't be surprised. His lineage was one of upsets, glitches, and odd occurences. Why should he be any different? Everything he touched would break. Anything he tried his hand at would go horribly awry. Delivering messages? He would get lost on the way. Weaving? He managed to tie himself into the loom. Feeding the familiars would lead to a stampede.

But he couldn't stop trying. Each day, something new. Each day, another magnificent disaster. But he would still pick himself up, one more time, and try again. He had been given a great name. A name of prestige. He had to prove that he was worthy of it, no matter how many times he failed.
