SUCCESS: The process "Hitch.exe" with PID 74231020 has been launched.
The dragon blinked a bit and shook himself out. Of all Adelaide's children, Hitch was particularly engineered. He did indeed run on code, and it had taken poor Paracress quite a while to work out the kinks.
He flashed a bright grin at the scientist who was watching him.
"I trust maintenance went well?"
"You're the only one who can tell me that, Hitch. You feel alright?"
"Mmm, yes, I believe I do!"
He shook himself out again, mane puffing up as he did so. He had been in sorry shape when Paracress found him. He had just changed to an Obelisk and was dull, lacking all his electric brightness. Thankfully, the scientist had more than enough experience with electrics, having been the one who built the crowbots who protect their clan, and was able to bring the light back to his circuit-wired mind.
"Well thank goodness," Paracress said softly. "If that hadn't worked, I'm not sure I would have been able to figure out what to do. You've been a pain in the rear since the moment I met you. I had half a mind to leave you where I found you."
"Psh, but you didn't, boss man! And you know wouldn't know what to do wtihout me at this point!"
Paracress rolled his eyes at the Obelisk's chipper sass, but couldn't help but smile a bit.
“Maybe so, but either way, you’re here now. My question to you though is… what are you going to do with yourself now?”
“What am I to do if not spread my bloodline! You must admit, Doc. My family is something special. And while I may no longer be a Veilspun like most of them, I still very clearly carry that genome. Besides, don’t you need more of us for your research anyway? It’ll work out perfectly!!”
“… you’re clearly excited about this prospect, so I suppose I’ll let you have at it. You know where to find me if you ever need my help with anything.”
The Obelisk laughed a bit.
“You say that like you’re getting rid of me! I’ll always be around, Doc. I may go off, but I’ll always come back. This is my home after all, and I’m much like a homing pigeon. Worry not, dear fatherly figure friend. You’ve still got plenty of time to get sick and tired of me!”
