Marasmia
Galdre of Forest Decay
she / her

Have you ever wondered why the forests rot? Why plants die, wither away into nothing but brown beneath your talons? Why trees grow old, their branches broken as the birds above them look for new shelter? Look beneath your talons—the answer lies in the leaves and foliage around you. If you see small mushrooms, then Marasmia has surely come to visit the place.

Accounts vary on Marasmia’s purpose or intention. Some say she was slighted by a dear friend, and others say she always had a hatred for life. She tramps through forests, her very touch bringing death alongside it—to feed on that death comes small, colorful mushrooms. They are a sure sign of Marasmia’s influence, and can only be removed by giving her an offering. No one has ever succeeded such a lofty goal, however, as Marasmia’s preferences lie unknown. When the trees rot and Marasmia’s mushrooms are present, it’s best to allow nature to run its course—after all, life often follows death, especially in unexpected ways.
