Taliesin--> Ausir--> |
Taerin |
"The solstice calmed their violate power, good." Ausir's voice practically purred in contentment, curled around their three glowing eggs. Frost seemed to billow from their translucent shells, spider-webbing across the nest and even up Ausir's crimson scales. It only tickled, a small itch that did not need to be scratched. The longest night of the year dampened the effects of the combined power of both her and Taliesin's opposing magic.
It worked.
She heard her mate's relieved sigh. The last three children of theirs had.... created quite the amount of chaos, more so than their first three children. Yet she knew somewhere in her gut that these three will be more level-headed, able to live their lives without leaving destruction in their wake. Until they began to grow up, Taliesin was still very wary. The night had been long and cold, and the eggs had absorbed the freezing element from the air itself. What does that mean for the future?
- - -
For someone who looked like the rising sun, Taerin preferred the nighttime, soaring alongside the moon as if she was its partner and not the sun itself. So long had she flown alongside of it that she began to take on a more golden and silver color, the patches slowly creeping up her scales and wings. She never minded it, as she much preferred the more muted colors of the night that the bright jarring colors of the day.
"The Moonlit One." The first time she had heard these whispers, Taerin dismissed them, after all, it was rare that she landed to spend time on the ground to rest her wings. Yet she slowly began to realize that a legend was beginning to form around this figure who flew with the moon. That figure being her, not that anyone notices. The Moonlit One who had starlight falling from their wings, who is blessed by the Moon and brings luck to all who see her. The dragoness could have balked by such outlandish claims. While she had small ice crystals fall from her outstretched wings when she was high enough in the air, it was certainly not stardust! Nor was she blessed by the Moon, or could give any type of luck.
Taerin simply kept her head down and moved on in silence. Still... If it brought joy to these people, who was she to stop them from believing? It did make her smile hearing the children giggle and gasp in awe about it, after all.
