The Leviathan
Deep Down in the pitch black depths of the deepest hole of the ocean

All sailors have stories of creatures who are lurking in the deepest depths of the ocean. Stories that cause young children and even some adults to have night terrors like none other. Marland Ross was an accomplished sailor. He had made multiple successful trips across the ocean with his frigate, The Adventurous Minnow. His sailing trips were mainly merchandise ferrying, however on one fateful day he was approached by a couple looking for a leisure cruise for their honeymoon. He would normally have dismissed the notion but the couple was the newly wed Prince and Princess of his homeland. The new couple also offered a very large sum to ferry them around for a couple of months. So, Captain Ross readied his crew and set sail with the newlyweds in tow.
The two lovebirds aboard his ship were the ones in control of their course. All Captain Ross could do was advise them not to sail into the den of the leviathan. The couple dismissed his warning as nothing more than a fairy tail, something made up by the sailors to just pass the time during long voyages like this one. They ordered Captain Ross’s helmsman to head directly into the heart of his territory. When the crew protested, the Prince threatened them all with death. With himself and his crew damned either way, Captain Ross steered his ship into the territory of the leviathan.
It was the laughter that Captain Ross heard first, then he saw the glowing and finally the siren song of the leviathan. The song had lulled the entire crew, including Ross and the two lovers, into a state of compliance. Ross watched helplessly as the monster rose from the depths and curled around his beautiful ship. The Adventurous Minnow was splintered into shards with one constricting pull of the huge body of the leviathan.
The ship and all the people on board were pulled down into the depths.
There was one significant sign that the crew of The Adventurous Minnow was never going to dock in port ever again. Two fingers washed onto the shore of the town, both still had their wedding rings. The Adventurous Minnow had met its doom out at sea and became the source of new horror tales throughout the town.
Murdock added his newfound riches to the growing hoard located underneath the depths. He could not believe the audacity of the ship who had just recently met its watery grave. The leviathan had been enraged with the trespassers, so a reminder was in order. Not only did Murdock ensure that the ship would never sail again, he also left other potential unwelcome visitors a warning on the shore.
