While Catalina’s parents were overjoyed with her birth, they had a complicated time raising her. Starting from her birth she absolutely refused to put an insect anywhere near her. Instead, the only thing she would eat is Sardines. It only became more difficult for her parents later in life. In her adolescent years they couldn’t get her to stop handling fire, even catching their hut on fire over a dozen times. After the 16th time they finally decided to give her to a blacksmith for apprenticeship.

Once Catalina reached adulthood, she started her own blacksmith hut. This is around the time she met her familiar companion Scarlet who also helps her around the shop.

 Catalina always told herself she was never going to find a mate; she’s too stubborn and fiery for any male to see interest in her, or so she thought. The last dragon she expected to fall for was Bloodborn. He was 25% strength, 75% charm, and 0% wits. He was known for being the local playboy, having already had 6 different hatchlings with 3 different females. Yet, she was noticing herself missing him whenever he had left on missions.
It took 3 years of his persistence before she finally agreed to become his mate. Some local dragons say Bloodborn refused over 70 interested females after meeting Catalina, even before they were forever mates.
