A bit of a reclusive figure at the Sunbeam Ranch, Huckleberry doesn't seem to step out of the borders of their modest estate unless it's for hauling the various fruits and vegetables of their labor out for delivery. The dried mud more often than not underneath Huckleberry's claws, or stuck to his boots, speak of the effort that goes into each harvest. And his mannerisms are congenial enough.

Still, the Tiller's earlier life— before coming to the Sunbeam Ranch— remains shrouded in silence. His eyes are shrewd, and the softness of his voice is weighed. There is a roughness in the Tiller's hands outside the work of the land, with its thorns, or its thistles. There is something dry and sharp, like heat lightning, in Huckleberry's laughter. But Huckleberry minds his own business— and the townsfolk mind theirs.
