She was born into a successful clan of merchants. They primarily sold gemstones and jewelry, so of course they needed a way to obtain them. One day, Batiste was in a heated bartering match that escalated into a full on battle. In the chaos, her pearl was broken. Out of shame, she left her clan without warning. She moved as far away as possible to avoid anyone who would have known her before. She adopted a haughty and distant persona and refused to let anyone get close to her, lest they find out her secret.

At heart she’s witty and mischievous, but she acts very serious and elegant. This is the reason she secretly feels so endeared to Chivy. She’d never admit it, but leaving her old clan made her very distraught and she yearned for a more easygoing environment. Batiste frequently butts heads with Vex, her snarky comments and Vex’s short temper aren’t a good match.
