Growing up in an isolated temple village, Vetur learns a barrier-focused fighting style as soon as he can walk. As if to mirror their style of combat, the village is heavily protected by layers of barriers, which prevent travel in both directions except on the night of the full moon. Growing up in this sheltered environment, Vetur doesn't come to know how different the rest of the world is until he sets off on his journeyman voyage.

Having little skill other than fighting, he makes his living as a travelling mercenary. For some time he pairs up with Skvetta, and the two of them travel together, taking assignments to protect caravans and villages from attack. Vetur takes great pride in his work- and it's precisely because of that pride that he feels so betrayed when Skvetta is willing to protect a clan near the Forbidden Portal who are clearly up to no good.

Angry both with his former partner and himself for being so naive, Vetur vows to investigate this suspicious clan and prove his point. To his surprise, the splinter of that clan who remained by the Observatory is accompanied by a familiar face. While Rook left the village long before Vetur did, they grew up in the same temple.

Happy to be around a likeminded dragon after so long, Vetur is surprised to hear just how terrible Hemlock's schemes really are. Renewed in his determination to take responsibility for his partner's betrayal, he devotes himself to the Riftroot faction of Polareis.
