Biography

Using this build:

With the recent Mire update we needed to switch to a 120 attack build. This build can use scratch or meditate, both have their own bonuses and strategy.

This particular build put a little more focus on durability than speed. You can choose later to switch the speed to 68 with only 17 Vitality and 5 defense.

Using this trainer (Scratch)

It does not matter where you put her in the team order, as long as the fodder you are training does not have an Ambush equipped. If you are training dragons that have equipped an Ambush or two, I recommend putting the trainer in the first (leftmost) position.
Choosing a starting pack will be easier with time, but two enemy packs are great to start with, as are packs with at least one caster and no more than one contuser (enemy types are broken down below). Haste your trainer and scratch down the biggest threat, get one scratch on each of the other enemies, and you should have enough breath to begin eliminating enemies.
Subsequent packs are generally simpler. Rally your trainer (haste them if you'd like for extra breath) and start taking out enemies in your preferred order.
When you have extra breath--and especially with two enemy packs--you can use sap to gain back a little bit of health to keep going.
When too many enemies dodge and you don't have enough breath to eliminate, you can recover by going back to scratching or just reload and start over.

Mire enemies

As you fight in any venue, you will learn how you prefer to handle different packs and which enemy you want to kill first, but my memory is terrible and the best I can usually do is go in the order of contusers, melee, and casters. More detailed order lists can be found in the original build guides.

Contusers - Wetland Unicorn, Salve Kamaitachi
Getting hit with a contuse is not cause for a reset, but boy does it drag the fight out. These two heal as well. Double grrrrr
Melee - Scythe Kamaitachi, Sickle Kamaitachi, Venomous Toridae, Poisonous Toridae, Southmarsh Podid, Armored Colony, Fungal Garden, Furry Fiddle, Marsh Kelpie, Muckbottom Catfish, Silt Wolf, Swamp Wolf, Vilevenom Kelpie
While some of these can cast spells as well, they do melee to build breath.
Casters - Mossy Cerdae, Brilliant Psywurm, Psywurm, Heartred Croaker, Blackwing Croaker, Acid Ant, Ink Ant, Lion's Mane Seeker, Whisper
Make no mistake, the casters can really mess you up, but as they have to meditate to build breath, it usually takes them a few turns. Be warned that some of them can debuff your trainer as well to either miss turns or have a higher miss chance. (Shout out to the croakers for being the mobs least likely to cause you to yell at your screen.)
Bosses - Wartoad, Molten Wartoad
Thankfully, these only show up alone, but there is a very small chance to take them down. If you have full breath and life on your trainer and get very lucky with the boss not dodging your hits, you have about a 25% chance of successfully tackling the boss with just your trainer. It is much easier to tackle the boss if you are leveling other dragons that have stats and battle stones, but most of the time it makes sense to reload the coli instead. (Only with scratch build)

Changing this Build to Meditate
there are many reasons you may choose meditate. For one, it basically gets you eliminating faster and you don't have to care too much about starting pack unless the contusers are being jerks.
Rotation: Meditate -> Haste -> Rally -> Defend on Melee mobs, or Rally again on casters -> Eliminate everything
Rounds after the first: Rally -> Eliminate until you eliminate misses then repeat the first round or restart if your health is low.

You do have sap if you're fighting casters and have extra breath sap can help heal your dragon.

Down side of meditate build: You will never beat a boss with it. Honestly, until you're comfortable with Mire anyways run from bosses by refreshing this will cost you no energy.
It's also harder to go and farm lower venues with the meditate during fests, but you can always come by and get yourself a glass canon for that from the initiative.
